After Greece’s remarkably similar sounding Eurovision entry last night I ended up on a bit of a Gogol Bordello binge. It didn’t help me sleep, but damn did it remind me how much fun these guys are live! One of the absolute best live bands I’ve ever seen, every time I’ve seen them. So have Wonderlust King at Reading Festival 2010 (and see if you can spot someone waving a black trilby in the air a little way back in the crowd, because that would be me!).

And if you want somewhere to start with other mental sounding songs, I recommend Not A Crime, and, of course, Start Wearing Purple!

The sun was out the other day for what felt like the first time in forever, and for some reason this track was perfect - I had it on repeat for hours. Which is odd, because the first time I heard it I couldn’t stand it. (But then again, that’s what happened with Paradise.) I’m not sure if I’ve overplayed it now, or if it just doesn’t sound right when the sun isn’t out. I’m posting it anyway though.

Can’t say I was ever the absolute hugest fan, but I’ve always enjoyed their music, and they’ve put on a fantastic show every time I’ve seen them - they’re a main stage staple from my Reading Festival days, and are one of those bands that I’m more than happy to see again and again - they’re yet to disappoint.

And this track? It’s already wedged in my head like someone’s nailed it there…
